A 7 Course Meal

A Tale Of Onome

ONOME wasn’t just my mother; she was a beacon of motherly love for everyone around her. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond our immediate family, making her a cherished mother figure to all who knew her.

One exceptional quality that defined Mama was her passion for cooking. It was through her culinary creations that she expressed her love for others, and I always admired this about her. Cooking became her love language, and the act of preparing meals brought her immense joy. She possessed an incredible selflessness that touched my heart deeply – she would sacrifice her own needs to ensure that everyone around her was well-fed and satisfied.

As a great chef, my mother had a natural talent for creating mouthwatering dishes that left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to taste her cooking. Her passion for feeding people was contagious, and it was her genuine happiness when others savored her creations that truly made her shine. Inspired by her dedication and talent, I have resolved to follow in her footsteps, aspiring to carry on her culinary legacy. By doing so, I hope to honor her memory and make her proud of the person I’ve become.

Losing my mother was an incredibly difficult experience, one that left me feeling like a mere shadow of my former self. However, as I began to recreate the dishes she once lovingly prepared, I found solace and healing. The familiar aromas and flavors evoked beautiful memories and created a profound sense of closeness to her. It was as if she was right there with me, guiding my hands and sharing in the joy of culinary creation. Through the act of cooking, I’ve discovered a profound connection to my mother, a way to keep her spirit alive within me.

In honor of my beloved mother, I humbly dedicate this seven-course menu to Sakponome. Each dish represents a heartfelt tribute to her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on those who had the privilege of knowing her. It is my hope that through my culinary endeavors, I can perpetuate the love and warmth that she so effortlessly radiated, ensuring that her legacy continues to touch the lives of many.
